Cramming: From a Procrastinator's Point-of-View

Almost every day in high school involves homeworks, projects and quizzes. The moment you get home, you sometimes feel so overwhelmed with the happenings in school that all you want to do is lay down, relax, and forget all there is to do. Then the next thing you know, you’ve got a project due tomorrow and now you find yourself stressing your brains out and rushing to finish the work you’ve been putting off for a long time. Sounds familiar?

Let’s admit it: we’ve all become procrastinators at least once in our lives. And the result of this behavior we sometimes can’t control? Cramming. Most of the time, it doesn’t feel good to be in this situation. You’re under so much pressure and stress you feel like your brain will go berserk. Then after you successfully finish your work, a great wave of relief washes over you. For me, cramming just can’t be avoided. Especially if you have this really bad habit of putting things off for later.

Cramming is generally considered as a negative study technique. But sometimes, when we think about it, cramming has its advantages too. Just imagine: if you studied a few hours before the big exam day, the information you’ve read stays in your mind because it’s still fresh. And I believe that when we are pressured, we get adrenaline rush and then we sometimes produce results which are better. I speak from experience. ;)

I’m not encouraging people to cram. In fact, I have promised myself to avoid this technique. And slowly, I am starting to leave the idea of cramming. I realized that my maximum potential can be shown when you take things slowly and smoothly. Why isn’t cramming a good idea? Cramming fails because you rely on SHORT-TERM MEMORY. This is fairly unreliable and it fails under stress.

I am an incurable procrastinator. I sometimes find myself not studying for an exam and getting a perfect score in it. If you know you’re a procrastinator and you don’t want to cram, then probably you’ll ace your tests with lesser efforts if you listen intently during class discussions. Then that’s the best way to avoid procrastinating – and cramming.

Last Week's Happenings

I haven't updated for a long time.! Haha. The previous week was a busy one. That's why. Last Thursday was Bear Hug Day in school. Everyone was supposed to wear something red. I dunno, I think it was the day to hug people you appreciate.? I'm not really sure..all I know is I just kept hugging people who hugged me back. :))

the highschool department.! that's not everyone though. :(

Then Friday was the Parangal sa Diwang Pilipino.! And I'm proud to say.....we're the overall champion.! HAHA!!!! Isn't it obvious.? We won second place for the Sabayang Pagbigkas [which we crammed on but I guess we did our best:D]We have one winning representative for each category. And I didn't expect to win third place in the onthespot essay-writing either. ;)

Trina and I with Erin :)

essay-writing participants.!! [that's me - short girl in the green flowery skirt;)]

fooling around at home after the parangal. ;)

Sooo..that's all for now.! It has been a really busy week. And now I guess this week will be busy too. Expect more posts soon!..but I'll be updating less often. I'm so frustrated with being distracted especially during my study time.! :))

report card report. :))

Got my report card yesterday. My adviser says I need to recite more in class and be more active, if I want to achieve my goal. Other than that, everything else about me is fine. My grades haven't reached my goal, though. And I promise myself to do better this quarter. :) I wasted half of my four-day vacation so far. Spent it all on the net - twitter, tumblr, blogger, friendster, myspace, facebook. *sigh* I hope the other half will be more productive. Starting todayy. :)

During these past few days I've been SO addicted to Mafia Wars on Facebook. I don't know what's so exciting with it, since all you have to do is click and click. It's still got me hooked, though. I've been opening up my laptop early in the morning just to update Mafia Wars. I'm currently just a Level 46 Maniac. :)

i'm on tumblr now, :)

I just finished signing up on Tumblr. They say it's a simpler kind of blog, and so I tried it. Here's the link: :)I wanna know how to make my own theme for this too, but I'm having a hard time trying to insert learning CSS into my schedule, since I'm studying like hell this quarter in order to make up for my "unsatisfactory" grades last quarter. I hope I'll be able to learn how to make one soon, though. :)

four-day vacation.!

I'm so happy there's so much time to do nothing. haha. There will be a Parent-Teacher Conference in school today and tomorrow. And to give way to this, classes have been suspended. YES.! Now there's enough time for advanced study and memorization. Plus time to do nothing and go shopping. :) So much to do on a short four-day vacation, for a busy person like me. :)

myVeryFirstMultiplyTheme. yay.! :)

I just finished making my own theme on Multiply.! Gosh, and I've been working for hours. I'm not that good, but at least I managed to fiddle around with Photoshop, create my own header and footer...I hope next time I'll be able to make my own Blogger theme, too.! :) yayy.! I'm sooo happy. :D Here are the pics of my header and footer. I should've put the code too, in case you want to use my theme, but I'm afraid it will take up too much space. I'll just give yah a link to the code next timee. :)

[because I'm proud of these little pieces of crap I made. :)]
